YARTS Riders

- All YARTS bus riders have the park entry fee included in their fare so a reservation is not required. The YARTS bus leaves from Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, and Lee Vining daily from June 15th to October 15th, (pending Tioga Pass opening). YARTS tickets can be purchased same-day with the bus driver or reserved in advance at the YARTS website. 

Reservations are Required to Enter the Park

- A reservation will be required to drive into Yosemite during two different periods in summer 2024. Keep reading for details about the two systems; the two systems are different.

- Visitors can make reservations to enter Yosemite National Park for this summer at the Yosemite NP Website.

- April 13 through June 30: A reservation is required from 5 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and on holidays (May 27 and June 19).

= July 1 through August 16: A reservation is required from 5 am to 4 pm every day.

= August 17 through October 27: A reservation is required from 5 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and on holidays (September 2 and October 14).

* Driving through the park will also require a reservation if entering between 5 am and 4 pm.

Tioga Pass information

From our campground to Yosemite East Gate Entrance is a 45 minute drive. Tioga Pass must be open for you to access Yosemite from our side of the mountains.

Tioga Pass (Highway 120) is usually closed from November through late May or early June. The park does not release opening dates in advance, but you can view when it has opened and closer in the past on the NPS website by clicking HERE.

Bridgeport Reservoir

Great boat fishing for large rainbow and brown trout. Boats can be rented at our marina. See Rental Fleet Page to learn more.

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Common Carp, Sacramento Perch

East Walker River

Great for fly fishing anglers looking to wade in a clear Eastern Sierra river.

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Lahontan Cutthroat

Note: We do not sell California fishing licenses on location. You may purchase online through Fish & Wildlife or in-person in downtown Bridgeport at Ken’s Sporting Goods.

Green Lake

Getting to the Trailhead: Green Creek Trailhead is 13.4 miles from our campground about a 30 minute drive down a maintained dirt road. Plenty of parking at trailhead

The hike: Rated moderate. This 3.15 mile one way, Out-and-Back trail, has an elevation gain of 1,082 ft.

Features: Wildflower, lake, fishing, views, wildlife

Virginia Lakes & Beyond

Getting to the Trailhead: Virginia Lakes Trailhead is 19.3 miles from our campground about a 20 minute drive with plenty of parking at trailhead

The hike: There are many hikes around the Virginia Lakes. Our favorite is Big Virginia Lakes to Frog Lakes. This hike is 1.5 miles one way with a 547ft. elevation gain.

Features: Wildflower, lake, fishing, views, wildlife.

Robinson Creek & Horse Creek

Getting to the Trailhead: Virginia Lakes Trailhead is 13.6 miles from our campground about a 20 minute drive with plenty of parking at trailhead. (Depending on where you would like to park, you might have to pay to park at trailhead)

The hike: There are many hikes around Lower and Upper Twin Lakes.

Features: Wildflower, lake, fishing, views, wildlife.

Travertine Hot Springs

Getting there: From the campground entrance take a right onto HWY 182. Once at the stop sign, take a left onto Hwy 395 and drive for about a mile. Take a left on Jack Sawyer road, it will be the first road on your left after getting on Hwy 395. Follow the signs and dirt road to Travertine Hot Springs.

The hike: If you choose not to hike, there is a cement pool right next to the parking lot. A short 5 minute walk will bring you to 4 more pools that are considered the Main Pools. Please try to stay on an already made trail.

Rules: No glass, No Fires, Leave No Trace, Pack Out ALL Trash.

Etiquette: Pools are first comes, first served. Ask permission before entering a pool if there is already a group using the pool. Nudity is acceptable, but if someone is already in the pool, ask first if it is alright to not have a bathing suit and respect their answer.

Features: Unique elephantine deposits, multiple different temperature pools.

Buckeye Hot Springs

Getting there: From the campground entrance take a right onto HWY 182. Once at the stop sign, take a right onto Hwy 395 and drive through downtown, take a left onto Hwy 420 aka Twin Lakes Road and follow it for 6 miles. Turn right at onto Buckeye Road for 4 miles. Veer right after the bridge over Buckeye Creek and the parking area will be a 1/2 mile down on your right.

The hike: The hike down to Buckeye’s Main Pools is steep, but short.

Rules: No glass, No Fires, Hike ONLY on designated trails, Leave No Trace, Pack Out ALL Trash.

Etiquette: Pools are first comes, first served. Ask permission before entering a pool if there is already a group using the pool. Nudity is acceptable, but if someone is already in the pool, ask first if it is alright to not have a bathing suit and respect their answer.

Features: Hot waterfall falling into the pools. Pools are along Buckeye Creek.

Old Chemung Gold Mine

Getting there: Drive your OHV to our campground entrance. Go straight across HWY 182 and follow the dirt road to the left. It will spit you out next to the highway for a bit and then you will get back on a dirt road. Once you come to Masonic Road take a right and you will follow it all the way to Chemung Mine!

Time & Distance: 7.3 miles from our campground.

Bodie Ghost Town

Getting there: Drive your OHV to our campground entrance. Go straight across HWY 182 and follow the dirt road to the right. Follow this road until you hit Aurora Canyon Road. This will split into 3 separate trails. Follow Bodie Masonic Road until you hit Bodie State Park.

Time & Distance: Allow 3 hours for the 28 mile ride to Bodie Ghost Town.

Kavanaugh Ridge

Getting There: If traveling in a non-highway legal vehicle, you will have to trailer your OHV in. Take HWY 395 to Conway Summit. Turn west on Virginia Lakes Rd F.S. 021. After 4.5 miles turn right on Dunderberg Creek Road, F.S. 020 flooding signs to Green Creek.

Time & Distance: Allow 3-4 hours to complete this 18.7 mile drive.

A Waterfowl Watcher’s Paradise

Bridgeport Reservoir, especially in the end of summer and fall months, is full of waterfowl and has the occasional bird of prey siting.

Common Birds include: western grebes, American white pelicans, white-faced ibis, bald eagles, pinyon jays, stellar jays, and more!
